Cord Blood
When a baby is born and the umbilical cord is cut, blood remains in the blood vessels of the placenta and the umbilical cord. the baby no longer needs the part that was cut away. This blood in this often discarded tissue is called cord blood and it contains all elements of blood red and white blood cells, plasma and platelets. and it is rich in hematopoietic stem cells, almost like those found in bone marrow.
